Things to do in Beverly Hills on a Thursday night.
The longer I stay in the business, the more I appreciate being my own boss and having the time to do things I want. Today, for example, I read that Carol Burnett was making an appearance in Beverly Hills at a screening of a great documentary about her life and career. She had a variety show on TV for 11 years in the late ’60s to mid-’70s (in case you are not familiar with her work as a comedian, singer, and actress). The event was sold out but I got lucky and wrangled a ticket from someone who had a spare. It was a very nice time. Even though I didn’t get a chance to meet Carol Burnett personally, I did get a photo taken with Tim Conway, an actor who was on the show, too. He is very funny and very talented.Â
For those interested in seeing the 90 minute documentary, it will be part of a series called American Masters on PBS soon. Good times!

I highly doubt that Tim Conway is into porn but I was sure into his comedy years ago. Great talent and a pleasure to meet.
The Carol Burnett documentary will be part of the American Masters series on PBS next month. Check it out. Carol had a lot of things against her growing up: alcoholic father, lack of opportunity, lack of money, etc. Her character of Eunice from the show had that dark humour to her and clips of Eunice saying very funny yet telling lines were played while a voiceover told of parallels in Carol’s life.
She overcame a lot and had a lot of help and luck along the way. A very satisfying story to learn even if you don’t know her work on TV. Very inspiring.
