I’ve been so busy during the past week, it’s not even funny. I had to prepare for my first trip to Miami for yet another porn convention. Instead of just bragging about it, this time I decided to explain a little more in depth how it actually goes…

So, the first thing you do once you get there, is register to the convention. Trust me, it’s worth the price. You’ll understand why I say that as you go along.

The convention is dedicated to webmasters and companies working really hard to get your business. Companies in different fields like billing companies, hosting companies, affiliate programs, magazines, DVDs, etc… So, pretty much everyone doing business in the industry gather to meet and hopefully get some business done (pretty much like any other convention from any other type of business… So far).

The only difference is every company wants to be the talk of the town. It’s called branding. You want everyone in the industry to know about your company and to talk about it for as long as possible. A very good and simple way to do so is to bring along as many girls as possible to entertain everyone. It doesn’t matter if we see naked girls all day long on our computers, we still love to be entertained by naked girls, especially the ones you see on your screen all the time.

So, this is basically how it goes.  You register and go to the warm-up party sponsored by company x. Free drinks plus hot chicks everywhere… As you know, alcohol helps people to get going. Basically, companies that want to do business with you will invite you to the nicest restaurant. They’ll treat you like a king.

After that, you get back for the main party of the evening. Now, the themes are different but you can sum it up to naked chicks and lots of alcohol…Pretty cool. But there’s a catch: you have to stay sober enough to get some business done (and to remember it). Also, you don’t want to be that person that made a fool of himself, right? (Althought, if people talk about you, it’s branding…but making a fool out of yourself is not best way to do it).

So, in 4 days, we had activities like wet t-shirts contests, bikini contests, bull riding, body painting… Add to that pool parties, midnight dips, amazing dinners and show floor during the day, cabanas by the pool, more drinks and meeting with friends from the industry… You get the general picture.

Anyways, I know it sounds like a crazy place full of fun but keep in mind it’s also work. You can’t stay in bed all day because you had too much to drink the day before. you have to be out there, smiling, because the way you act and who you are is associated with your company. Days start really early and end really late (when they end). It’s like that for 4 days.

This is why you need about 2 days when you get back to recover from these exhausting shows.

This is also why I was saying how a good investment the registration is; almost everything else is free because companies sponsor every event to brand their name. Add to that all the freebies companies give so you take it home like t-shirts, hats, DVDs, pens, bottle openers and the craziest things that everyone wants to have. Like stress balls in boob shape, pocket knives, magazines, USB keys…

I hope you liked this post. I hesitated a lot before writing it. I wasn’t sure if it was relevant but I figured if I included naked chicks pics, it would definately make this post more than acceptable.

I’ll be on vacation next week. Trust me, it’s much needed. Will be back in great shape and will come back to my original pace of 3 posts a week.
